Vittoria Ferita
Ian Charles Lepine seeks to present beings trapped in a crossroads of contradiction: his interest is to display creatures whose very existence negates their very existence. These are beings at war with themselves, a war where all victories cannot but prove pyrrhic.
His sculptures are frequently complemented by a poem in either English, French, or Italian, that seeks to give a voice to its inert matter.

La scultura presenta una Niké (dea della vittoria) frammentata e rotta ma con un’attitudine di pace. In questo soggetto l’artista plasma il trionfo malgrado (e attraverso) la sconfitta.
La figura si sorregge con un braccio ed è il vuoto che ne definisce lo scheletro: l’opera celebra così la pace, ma si tratta di una pace melancolica, conquistata attraverso le cicatrici della storia e infine edificata sui dolorosi fantasmi del passato
